SeraphCorp Institute

Our Learning Philosophy

SeraphCorp is unique in our use of Transactional Analysis (TA) in the design and delivery of our learning programmes, and as the andragogical underpinning theory for our faculty.

SeraphCorp holds a social constructivist approach to learning, i.e. we believe that learning is co-created by the learner with the faculty and the rest of the learning group. Our educational philosophy is a blend of humanistic and progressive. This means that our faculty strive to serve as guides and facilitators for the learning groups. Our courses are designed and delivered based on David Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle, and aligned with Bound and Chia’s Six Principles of Learning Design (6PoLD). Our programme design spans a diverse range of learning and assessment methods.

SeraphCorp is also introducing blended learning to some of the SCC modules, i.e. either face to face or virtual synchronous learning together with an asynchronous learning portion. Using Coursemology, our Learning Management System, we use learning bots with branching scenarios to train decision-making and consequential logic, and simple gamification (with badging achievements and leaderboards) where learners are required to complete tasks that demonstrate the acquisition of the relevant skill. These methods increase learner engagement and learning effectiveness, and more importantly, invite learners to take accountability and ownership of their own learning.
